2 youth ran over by CRPF vehicle at Nowhatta, police registers case

Two youths were injured after a CRPF vehicle ran over them during a clash in Old city of Srinagar district on Friday.Official sources told GNS that a group of youth resorted to stone-pelting on forces after Friday prayers. They said police used teargas and pellets against stone-throwers during which some youth suffered minor injuries.Later, as the stone pelting clashes turned violent, a CRPF BP (Bullet Proof) vehicle of 128 battalion ran over the two youths identified as Mohammad Younis of Dalgate and Kaiser Ahmad of Fatehkadal.The duo suffered critical injuries in the incident and were immediately taken to JLNM hospital Rainawari where from both of them were referred to SKIMS Soura, they said.A doctor who treated duo at Rainwari hospital said that both the persons are critical.

SSP Imtiaz Ismail Parray told GNS that police has taken cognizance of the incident."We have lodged two cases with regard to the incidents and further investigations have been taken up," SSP said.The cases include— FIR No 18/2018 u/s 307,148,149,152,336,427 RPC and FIR No 19/2018 U/s 279 (rash driving), 337 RPC.Meanwhile, there were no restrictions in any part of Old City today and the Jamia Masjid was open for public.As per GNS, hundreds of people offered Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid and chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umer Farooq addressed the people before the prayers. He said that historic Jamia Masjid has been an eye-sore of the ruling class and conspiracies have been hatched against it from past 90 years. (GNS)
