In a major leap towards providing citizen centric services to the people of Punjab, the Transport Department has completed second phase of the project regarding the computerization of the departmental work. Besides this, Punjab has achieved the distinction of being the pioneer state to successfully implement the 2 softwares 'SAARTHI 4.0' and 'VAHAN 4.0' which were prepared for the facilitation of vehicle owners and vehicle drivers. This was disclosed here today in a statement by the Transport Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary.The minister further said that in accordance with the directions of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the Transport Department had taken the initiative under e-Governance project in order to provide services to the people in easy and hassle free manner which have come to fruition now with implementation across the length and breadth of the state. Now, all the 11 Regional Transport Authority (R.T.A.) offices, 79 SDM offices and 32 Automated Driving Test Tracks have been brought under the ambit of e-Governance.Detailing further, the Transport Minister said that the 'VAHAN 4.0' and 'SAARTHI 4.0' web based softwares have started to exhibit fruitful results. The minister added that the services provided to the vehicle owners under 'VAHAN 4.0' include new registration of vehicles, renewal of old regsistration, filing tax online of the vehicles and permit of the vehicles. As regarding the 'SAARTHI 4.0' software, it includes learning driving licences of vehicle drivers, preparing new driving licences and renewal of old ones and commercial driving licences. The software would provide every bit of information to the people of the state through SMS and internet. Mrs. Chaudhary has congratulated the officers of the Transport Department on the successful implementation of e-Governance project and hoped for transparent and citizen friendly services to the people.
