Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gurkirat Singh Kotli on Friday inaugurated new city police station-2 along with senior superintendent of police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal.Before the formal opening of a new police station, Sukhmani Sahib Path was organized there. MLA, SSP along with other senior officials took part.Later addressing the gathering, MLA applauded the functioning of Khanna police and for cracking down criminals and unethical elements in the city.He said that Punjab Police has got major success in eliminating the gangsters and criminals in the state particularly in the context of gunning down of most wanted gangsters and arrest of accused involved in killings. He specifically mentioned that SSP Mahal took the keen initiative in setting up city police station-2 and sent a proposal to the government which was unanimously accepted.MLA stated that with coming of this new police station, the people of the south side of the city will be benefited widely and city police station-1 will facilitate the residents of another side in the city.Meanwhile, SSP disclosed that this new police station will have the staff of 41 employees including lady force and 17- wards will come under its jurisdiction. Khanna city has 33 MC wards and remaining will be covered by city police station-1.On the occasion, Khanna ADC Ajay Sood, SDM Sandeep Singh, SP (H) Balwinder Singh Bhikhi, SP (I) Jasvir Singh, DSP Vikas Sabharwal, DSP Jagwinder Singh Cheema, DSP Samrala Harsimrat Singh Shetra, DSP Payal Rashpal Singh Dhindsa, DSP Sarbjeet Kaur Bajwa, Political Secretary Harinder Singh Kanech, senior Congress leader Ashok Tiwari, Gurdeep Singh, city Congress chief Jatinder Pathak and several others were present.
