Dal Dwellers Friday alleged that Government has been doing nothing to mitigate their sufferings.“For years we have been awaiting proper land allotment for rehabilitation and compensation for the houses destroyed in 2014 floods, but year on year, we face new hurdles. We are still running from pillar to post to get our demands met,” Dal dwellers from Mir Behri said while staging a protest in the premises of Divisional Commissioners office. They said that in today’s meeting Divisional Commissioner Kashmir failed to settle a single case. There are about 40 cases that need to be settled.“Government had promised to award compensation to the owners of those destroyed houses. Even after identification nothing was done. Neither we are compensated nor are we allowed to repair our houses. This is injustice and we are here to protest seeking justice,” the protesters told CNS.
