State Vigilance Bureau arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of PSPCL and Wakf Board Employee for accepting bribes in two different cases.Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said JE Harnek Singh posted at PSPCL Sub Division Ghamrauda, Patiala was arrested on the complaint of Satnam Singh of Village Khurd in Patiala district .The complaint has approached the VB and alleged that the above said JE was demanding Rs. 33,500 to shift an electricity pole in front of his house on his request.It may be mentioned here that the accused JE had already fixed deal with SDO Joga Singh and Lineman Darshan Singh of PSPCL Sub Division Ghamrauda for sharing the bribe amount in this case.After verifying his information, Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused JE arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.33,500 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under section 7,13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B IPC has been registered against all the above said accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations were under progress.In another bribery case Vigilance Bureau arrested Rent Collector (RC) Saleem Bahadur posted at Punjab Wakf Board Rupnagar for accepting bribe of Rs. 1 lakh on the complaint of Rajesh Khan of village Bhartgarh Rupnagar district.The complaint has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused was demanding Rs. 4 lakh to allot him 6 marla land on lease and the deal was struck at Rs. 3.75 lakh.After verifying his information, Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Rent Collector arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.1 lakh as a first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.He informed that a case under of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the above said accused at VB police station Ludhiana and further investigations were under progress.
