Ambassador of Norway in India H.E. Mr Nils Ragnar Kamsvag called on the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur at Oakover here today to discuss the possibilities of investment by Norway in the field of hydropower and tourism in Himachal Pradesh. He said that Himachal Pradesh has vast potential of hydro power energy and added that Norway has latest technology in this sector so that full potential in hydro sector could be exploited.Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that both India and Norway had cordial relations and it was essential to further strengthen the same. He said that Himachal has immense power potential estimated around 26,000 MW. He said that the State Government was committed to exploit this potential by involving both public and private partners for growth of this sector.Jai Ram Thakur said that the State would welcome investment from Norway in hydropower as well as renewable energy resources. He said that the Government would provide all possible help to the entrepreneurs for investing in the State.Ambassador of Norway in India H.E. He said that over 98 per cent of the energy requirements in Norway were being met through hydro power generation. He said that Norway was interested in investing in power as well as tourism sector in the State of Himachal Pradesh.Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Smt. Manisha Nanda and Second Secretary of Norwegian Embassy Marta Gjortz were also present on the occasion among others.
