Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj while presiding over a meeting of the officers of Municipal Corporation, Irrigation and Public Health department, district administration and Electricity Board here today directed to ensure evenhanded water supply to all wards of the Shimla town.He directed to discontinue the water connections given for construction work temporarily keeping in view the shortage of drinking water and appointing a nodal officer to monitor this work.The Minister was informed by the officers of the Municipal Corporation that samples of Ashwani khud were sent to IGMC, Shimla and Pune laboratories and the water had been found appropriate for drinking purpose. He asked to restore the water supply from this source at the earliest as it would ensure availability of around 10 lakh litre additional water to the Shimla town. Shri Bhardwaj also directed to supply drinking water from Ghandal water supply scheme in Shimla Rural constituency to Totu and Majhyat areas.
