29th National Road Safety Week celebrated across Jammu Division

29th National Road Safety Week was celebrated across Jammu division. The theme for 29th National Road Safety Week is ‘Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha’ which is going to be observed from 23rd April to 30th April 2018.Motor Vehicle Department Kathua organized a Bike Rally to celebrate Road Safety week which was flagged off by District Development Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria from RTO Office Kathua. He said that the object of better traffic system cannot be achieved without the cooperation of people and it is the duty and responsibility of people to follow traffic norms.Deputy Commissioner Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai flagged off an awareness rally organized by Motor Vehicle Department in connection with ongoing Road Safety Week celebrations. The rally was taken out from GHSS Ramban and after passing through the main market finally culminated at GHHS Ramban where the students and participants threw light on importance of safety rules needed to be followed while driving on the road.In Udhampur, MVD in collaboration with traffic police, Education and other line departments organized an awareness rally highlighting the various road safety measures, which was flagged off by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar. Around 2000 students from 25 different government as well as private educational institutions participated in the rally. While holding the placards and banners in their hands, the students raised the slogans on 'Safety on Roads'.In Rajouri, DDC Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary flagged off a mammoth awareness rally on first day of 29th Road Safety Week. While speaking on the occasion the DDC said the road accidents are single-largest cause of loss of life and it is high time all the stakeholders ensure safety through adherence to traffic rules, education, proper design of roads and enforcement.

In Samba, District Development Commissioner Samba S. Rajinder Singh Tara flagged off a rally organized under Road Safety Week 2018. While speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the objective of Road Safety Week is to create awareness among the masses about traffic rules so that road accidents are minimized. He also asked the people to follow traffic rules strictly.In Kishtwar, DDC Angrez Singh Rana in presence of SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhry, flagged a massive rally from DC Office. The participants of the rally were carrying banners and shouting slogans for abiding by traffic rules. Rally started from the DC office complex to Bus stand via Dak Bunglow.In Doda, 29th Road safety Week 2018 started with a huge rally flagged off by ADDC Doda Mohd Hanief Malik. He emphasized upon the participants to adopt necessary road safety measures for averting road accidents and loss of precious life. He also appealed the people particularly drivers to avoid rash driving, overloading, drunken driving to reduce the number of accidents.In Poonch, the DDC flagged off “Helmet Rally” to spread awareness among the masses about mandatory use of helmets while riding two-wheelers. The rally, which started from DC Office Complex and culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch, witnessed the participation of youth and elders hailing from all sections of the society.SSP Traffic (Rural), Mushtaq Choudhary, ADC Poonch Dr Basharat, ASP Poonch and ACR Poonch were also part on the occasion.
