The nation has great hope and expectations from the young professionals for making a “New India’, stated Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the 2nd convocation of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Poanta Sahib in Sirmour district today.He said that the institution may have some limitation regarding infrastructure but still there was no dearth of talent and the students passing out from here would always cherish the memories of this institution and Himachal Pradesh as well. He urged the passing out students to act as Ambassadors of the State and whenever opportunity comes their way, they should come forward to serve the State. He said that the country was forging ahead on the path of progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The Chief Minister urged the passing out students to always remember the sacrifice of their parents for providing them opportunity to study in one of the best institute of the country. Teachers too were the real architect of the future of the nation, and they should also be given due respect, he added. He also urged the students to uphold their values, culture and traditions.
Jai Ram Thakur gave medals to the meritorious students of the Institutions.Padmanabh Adhikari was awarded Director’s gold medal while Somaya Depdass was awarded as the best all-round student award. Director Special Recognition award was given to Arushi Singh.Chairman, Governing Council, IIM Sirmour Ajay S. Sriram said that the presence of the Chief Minister in the function shows the seriousness of the government towards imparting quality higher education. He said that 35 students have graduated from this institution. The institution was in its initial stage but still it has created a niche for itself among the premier institution of the country.Director, IIM, Dr Neelu Rohmetra while presenting the Director’s Report said that the institute was committed to produce the talent ready to meet the challenges of modern era. The institute was committed to provide quality education to the students through highly qualified faculty and some of the best in the industry as guest faculty. She said that the coming academic year would see main new initiatives by the institution.Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, MP Virender Kashyap, MLAs Sukh Ram and Suresh Kashyap, former MLA Baldev Tomar, OSD to the CM Shishu Dharma, State BJP General Secretary Chander Mohan Thakur were present on the occasion among others.
