Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated bridge over Markanda river on Shambhuwala-Bankala road in Bankalan Panchayat of Sirmour district constructed by spending an amount of about Rs 6 crore. This bridge would benefit thousands of people of the area.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that State Government was committed towards the balanced development of the State. He said that the PMGSY was a brain child of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee which has ensured road connectivity to even remotest villages of the State.  He said that today almost all the 3226 panchayats of the State have been connected by roads and most of the rural roads were constructed under  the PMGSY.The Chief Minister announced construction of Bankalan-Rakli road under PMGSY by spending Rs. 3.22 crore, Khajurian-Melowala road under PMGSY by spending Rs. 2.76 crore, Shambhuwala-Matrabhero road by spending Rs. 4.56 crore and Bhation-Samarka road by spending Rs. 5.82 crore.He also announced that DPR will be prepared for bridge at Kun road under NABARD. He announced Rs. 6 lakh for G.S.S.School Bankalan and Rs. 4 lakh for Primary School Nalka.

Speaker, Vidhan Sabha Dr Rajeev Bindal thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating and laying foundation stones of hundred of crores of project for Nahan Vidhan Sabha areas. He urged for channelization of the Markenday river as it plays havoc during the rainy season.  He said that Nalka-Samalka road, Mattar-Bharon road, Malowal road, Satiwala road under PMGSY should be constructed at the earliest.  He also detailed various developmental demands of the area.Member of Parliament Shri Virender Kashyap said that the bridge over Markenda river would ensure all weather connectivity to the people of the area. He said that the Modi Government in the country for the last four years was committed for making of a 'New India’, by doubling the farm income of each and every farmers. He also congratulated the Chief Minister for completing 100 days in office in the State. He said that Centre Government was always considerate towards the developmental need of the people of the State.Member Zila Parishad Shri Munish Chauhan detailed various developmental demands of the area. President of the Gram Panchayat Bankalan also welcomed the Chief Minister.Urban Development Minister Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, MLA Pachhad Shri Suresh Kashyap, former MLA Shri Baldev Tomar,  BJP General Secretary Shri  Chander Mohan Thakur were present on the occasion among others.
