Students and Women groups protest at Jantar Mantar against Kathua and Unnao rape incidents

Students and Women groups Thursday staged a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar demanding justice for Kathua and Unnao rape victims.Reports said that scores of students and civil society members assembled at Parliament Street in New Delhi and denounced that fringe elements who are trying to defend the rapists of Kathua little girl Asifa.The protesters were carrying placards and banners seeking capital punishment for the rape and murder accused.The protesters said that no woman is safe under BJP rule, be it in Unnao or Kathua. “Helpless victims are crying for justice, and the government is busy protecting the culprits.”While talking to news agency CNS over phone, former member of Public Grievances Commission and Police Complaint Authority Government of New Delhi, Nisha Sameul said that her heart goes out for the people of Kashmir who have been immensely suffering at the hands of successive governments. She said it is shocking to see pseudo nationalists hit to roads in defense of rapists and murderers.“A rape is a rape and the criminals deserve capital punishment,” she said. (CNS)
