Stresses for massive out-reach programme in far flung areas, underscores need for women empowerment

Vice- Chairman Khadi & Village Industries Board Peerzada Mansoor Hussain Suharwardhy, chaired a meeting to review functioning of KVIB, Jammu Division, here today.Secretary KVIB, Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Financial Advisor Ashraf Khan, Divisional Officer, Jammu Pawan Gupta, district officers and other senior officers attended the meeting.Underscoring the need to make the facilities of the KVIB available in the far-flung areas of the Jammu division, Vice- Chairman emphasized the officers to organize awareness camps for the common masses especially youth in a bid to extend financial help for their sustainable livelihood. He also asked to stay connected to the ground and monitor the implementation of the schemes being accorded to the young entrepreneurs by the KVIB.VC said that in far flung areas of the Jammu division, the officers must make it as their priority to hold the awareness camps, seminars and workshops at least once every month.“The board must equip itself with the latest technology and gadgets so that same could pave way for the better understanding between the functioning of the board and the youth availing its services”, VC said adding that there should also be a constant contact between the district offices and the divisional office of the board.

The Vice- Chairman KVIB further stressed the need for a constructive role of the board in empowering the women in the state especially those who live in the higher reaches and inaccessible areas of the state.  He added that the board must encourage the women to come forward and instill in them the confidence to become independent and earn decent livelihood. He passed the directions to the Secretary KVIB to approve the financial schemes for the women who intend to establish their own business units and yearn to earn livelihood at par with the women living the twin capitals of the state.VC also asked for strengthening of the District Level Task Force Committee for the proper monitoring of the financial schemes and establishment of the business units.Secretary KVIB while highlighting Board’s achievements during the financial year 2017-18, said that instead of the target of establishing 1002 business units in the state, the Board went ahead by launching 2024 units. He added that the Board recorded 202 percent of the physical target and 175 percent of the financial target within the span of one year.
