Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs & tribal affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, convened a meeting here on other day and had a detailed review of ongoing tribal projects in the district including cluster tribal Model villages besides issues of FCS & CA were also discussed in the meeting.The focus of meeting was to review the ongoing tribal welfare schemes and projects including cluster tribal Model villages and residential hostel for tribal girls besides the meeting had an overview of FCS & CA issues.Present on the occasion were MLA Shah Mohammed Tantray, District Development Commissioner  Mohammed Aijaz Ashad, Additional district development Commissioner Shaikh Abdul Hamid, SSP Rajiv Panday, Director FCS&CA Rashid Inqlabi, DirectorTribal Affairs Mohammad Rafi, Secretary, Gujjar-Bhakerwal Advisory Board Mukhtar Ahmed along with senior functionaries of concerned departments, Executive engineers of PWD, PDD, PHE and PMGSY besides other district officers.At the meeting, Zulfkar underlined the importance for an effective mechanism for expediting tribal development projects in the hilly district .He said that upcoming Model villages will 'look like a Model villages,' if, due consideration is given in adhering the set standard, specification and design of development works, the minister asked the executing agencies.

Zulfkar Ali said that government is committed for inclusive development of the tribal community and will raise their living standards for which various schemes have been introduced adding that government is very concerned for effective implementation of tribal schemes in this border district for upliftment of tribal community.On the occasion, the Minister said that left out families/ rationee residing in the areas beyond the fence ( LOC) are to be included in priority house hold category(PHH) and soon are registered on portal.In this regard, DC was asked to work out modalities for unregistered families and submit a proposal, so that, a mechanism is made for their registration once for all.Tribal Minister, said government is committed for the upliftment of tribal community, and in this regard, a comprehensive policy for welfare and development of tribal population is  in hand.Ch.Zulfkar Ali, said that, government will pay special focus on early completion of tribal projects in Peerpanchal region and sufficient money would be made available for the completion of these projects.

“Money is no more constraint for these projects in Poonch district and he asked the officers to increase their spending capacity for early completion of the projects, so that people gets benefit earlier" he added.During the meeting deadline were also fixed for the completion of 'Eklavya Model residential school' at  Bahera, renovation of Gujjar and Bakerwal hostel Poonch, construction of cluster Model villages in Salotri, Dharadullian and Gursai.He asked the officers to frame a comprehensive convergence plan for these Cluster tribal Model villages by launching agricultural allied activities to further the scope their socio economic development be explored."Various initiatives for Skill development of tribal people as well as other activities which have a scope of self-employment opportunities should be given due care so that these Models villages look like a model villages" the tribal minister added.While reviewing , development works for tribal  people in detailed manner, the minister called for prioritizing of works by conducting Gram Sabha rather than starting works haphazardly, he added that works started should be completed in time bound manner for desirable results.Earlier DDC have given detailed presentation of overall development scenario and status of tribal project.
