DDC visit Devika Ghat, inspects Baisakhi mela site

In order to finalize the arrangements for the   smooth conduct of 3- Day historic Baisakhi mela commencing from April 13, 2018, District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar visitedthe mela site and took stock of   mela arrangements, here today.The DDC was accompanied by GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, Executive Engineer   PHE, Ashok Sharma, Mela Officer, Mehboob Iqbal, DySP HQKameshwarPuri, Block Development Officer, Rupali Vaid besides other officers and PresidentDevika BaisakhiMelaCommittee. Detailed deliberations were held on various arrangements like adequate drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, barricading, first-aid, sanitation, checking of rates and directions were issued to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to respective departments well before the start of the mela.While inspecting mela ground, the DDC directed the concerned to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience during the mela days.Emphasising on the theme of Swacch Baisakhi, the DDC said frisking will be done at entry points to check use of polythene besides prohibition on use of disposable items in food stalls and bathing with soap in the sacred river Devika.He further said that a team of volunteers has been deployed for SwachhtaSewa during melaalongwith green dustbins for biodegradable waste and red for nonbidegradable waste are installed for disposal of waste.The DDC directed the concerned to make public toilets functional during mela days.He issued directions to government departments to set up awareness stalls for generating maximum awareness among people regarding state and centrally sponsored schemes.
