Sangrur MP, Vijay Inder Singla addressing election meetings today stated that for long, Punjab had remained a source of inspiration for rest of the States in India and the role played by its sturdy farmers to make the country self-dependent in the food sector is noteworthy. Owing to its hard-working people, Punjab remained a leader state for several decades in the country but Singla stated that now the Akali- BJP Government has brought the State with its 7 year bad governance to a grinding halt. The treasury is empty, no new industry is coming up and agriculture is under stress. Big industrialists are abandoning the State for want of a good working culture and the right infrastructure. The youth are getting misguided for want of employment and falling into a drug trap.
Singla stated that everybody knows that Punjab Govt. has no money to pay for salary and pensions and pursuing a development agenda is a far fetched dream today for Punjab Govt. and the Central Funds and Projects have largely come to the rescue of Punjab. He urged the people of Punjab to introspect within and not to let false propaganda of Badal – BJP alliance sway them. Singla remarked that it has become a habit of Punjab Govt. to blame the Central Govt. for Punjab ills and pass the buck but he was clear that voter is aware and sensitive about who their well wisher is.Singla further remarked that Punjab Govt. has not been accessing funds under more than 40 Central schemes. Even significant Funds available for providing interest subsidy on educational loans available to Punjab Govt. under a Central Scheme are not being accessed and Badal – BJP alliance has been cheating the Youth in securing a future for themselves and what the present Govt. has to offer is only stories and no concrete action.
