Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today reviewed the arrangements for wheat procurement and directed the DGP to take effective steps to counter any attempt to obstruct the procurement process.Directing the Civil and Police administration to ensure smooth and seamless procurement of Wheat during the ensuing Rabi season, the Chief Minister made it clear that nobody would be allowed to disrupt the movement of transport during the lifting process. He was chairing a high-level meeting to review the procurement arrangements.The Chief Minister asked the Deputy Commissioners and senior police officers across the districts to keep a close tab over the movement of vehicles plying for lifting purposes and strictly enforce the ban on cartelization. He directed them to extend full support and cooperation to those engaged by the State Government for the transportation of wheat.At the same time, the Chief Minister also asked the Food and Civil Supplies Department to make alternate arrangements for transportation, if necessary, to facilitate smooth and hassle-free procurement.The review meeting was attended, among others, by Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, Director General of Police Suresh Arora, Principal Secretary Transport Sarvjit Singh and Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies KAP Sinha.
