Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur Mr. Sunil Jakhar said that now when the Punjab government has waived off its share of GST from Langar/Prasad of Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Durgiana Temple, the Union Government should also come forward to waive off its GST share from Langar as it is not a profit making business. He was demanding this at outside the Parliament House, including MPs of Congress affiliated to Punjab. Among them Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa, Lok Sabha MP Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu and Mr. Gurjit Singh Aujla were also present on the occasion. The MPs also held demonstrations posts in their hands outside the Parliament House so that the demand of the people of Punjab could be reached to the Union Government.Mr. Jakhar said that millions of people have the reverence for Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Durgiana Mandir and Sri Ram Tirath and here food is distributed to thousands of people every day, for which no money is being taken. Therefore, taxing these langars is not an appropriate decision of Union Government. He demanded from the Union Finance Minister that the Central Government should waive off GST from Langars. While condemning Shiromani Akali Dal's silence on this issue, Jakhar said that the Akali Dal is a partner in the central government, so it should pressurize the central government on this issue. But the Akali leaders are not raising the legitimate demands of the state to Union Government in the greed of power.
