Highlighting the importance of sports in the harmonious development of a person, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary urged upon the youth to actively participate in the sports activities.The Minister was speaking at the concluding function of 3-day Volley Ball tournament today at Satowali in Suchetgarh Constituency.The Minister said that sports play key role in keeping the body healthy and strong. He said that sports also inculcate feeling of camaraderie, team spirit, sportsmanship, and a sense of, discipline, responsibility and quick decision which are important in life of a person.Sham Choudhary said that the event was organized with the aim to promote sports culture among youth of the Border villages, besides creating awareness among general about the judicious use of water and keeping the water sources clean and pollution free. The Minister complimented the winner and runner-up teams. He also appreciated participating teams for performing well during the tournament.
On the occasion of World Water Day, the Minister highlighted the importance of this precious natural commodity and said that water’s requirement for every creature is so important and need of the hour is to preserve its every drop for future. He said that it is our collective responsibility to keep the water sources pollution free and save the water for future generation.The Minister gave away trophies among the winner, runner-up teams. He also handed over trophies among participating team for their encouragement.The theme of the tournament was “Save water, save earth. The final of the tournament was won by the Satriyan club.It is worthwhile to mention here that Communication & Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE) had also organized a 3-day Volley Ball tournament at Chakroi in which budding players of the area performed well during the tournament.Executive Director, CCDU, prominent citizens of the area and large number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
