District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar today inaugurated the Second Round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI), campaign 2017-18 and administered polio drops to a baby at District Hospital Udhampur.The DDC was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K.C Dogra, Dy. Chief Medical Officer , Dr. S.D Attri, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Dr. Vijay Basnotra, DTO Dr. Radhay Krishan, DIO,Dr. Santosh Sharma, DHO, Dr. Janak Raj, Deputy Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Vijay Rana.The campaign will be observed from 11th of March 2018 to 13th of March 2018.Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that during this campaign, children from the age group of 0 to 5 years will be immunized in the district along with sex ratio survey under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” that was started by DDC Udhampur during 1st Round, in which the sex ratio was observed to be 936/1000, will also continue during this round as well.
Chief Medical Officer, disclosed that first day being booth activity, 540 booths were established throughout the district consisting of 2160 vaccinators along with 108 supervisors and 11 transit points consisting of 44 vaccinators and 3 supervisors. 12th and 13th, March 2018 will be house to house activity in which the left out children will be covered under this programme and total number of children to be vaccinated during the campaign is 87667.DDC stressed upon all to ensure that all children in the age group of 0 to 5 years are covered in this campaign.The campaign was ably assisted by allied departments and especially by CRPF that assisted in establishing polio booths at DH and Jakhani Chowk . On the occasion, gifts were also distributed among the girl child.Later, DDC also monitored IPPI booths established at Jakhani, Baryal and Satani to have on the spot assessment of the working of the booth activity. DDC also checked the VVMs at these booths.
