The co-president of Aam Aadmi Party and MLA from Sunam, Aman Arora on Thursday celebrated the International Women’s Day in a different way by laying the foundation stone of a washroom in girls’ school at village Dhadrian of Sunam constituency. The school had no washroom and the girl students were forced to go out in the fields or to use washroom of neighboring houses.Speaking on the occasion, Arora said that it is shameful and disheartening to see that even after 70 years of independence, the girls’ schools in the state are deprived of necessary facilities like washrooms. He said that the woman is the creator of the universe and their safety must be the top most priority of the government but nothing has been done for the purpose in the past. “The women in India and abroad have a glorious past and all the religious texts give utmost place to the women. It is our duty to provide respect and security to the girls who are the future of this country.” Arora said.

Arora said that few days back during a meeting with NRI families, he urged them to help in building washrooms in the girls’ schools where there were no washrooms or were in bad state. The NRIs Sandhu and Grewal families immediately agreed to provide financial help for the sake of safety and respect to the girls and the foundation of first washroom was laid down at Vill. Dhadrian today. “This is the beginning of the mission and washrooms in all the schools of Sunam constituency will be built in next 1-2 months. I thank the NRI families for their support for the work that will go a long way.” said Aman.Arora urged the people of state and NRIs to come forward for the noble causes like this. “The successive governments have failed to provide security and respect to the women in state and country and the society have to take the lead in this regard. The crime against women is on rise in the country and our little efforts can make a difference.” he said.Karam Singh Brar, Ajaib Singh Sarpanch, Harpreet Singh Hanjra, Adv. Hardeep Singh Bharoor, Raj Singh, Mukesh Juneja, Gurpreet Singh Gopi, Sahib Singh, Kulddep Singh Fauji and Ranjeet Singh were also present on the occasion.
