DDC Pulwama flags-off fish farmers on exposure tour

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar today flagged-off a group of progressive fish farmers on a day-long inter-state exposure cum training tour to District Kulgam from DC office complex under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.The group will visit different fish farms in Tchancer Kulgam and other adjacent areas to see physically the ways and means adopted for better fish production.The DDC on the occasion interacted with farmers and wished them a purposeful tour. DDC exhorted to increase the frequency and scope of such programmes which will lead to an exchange of inter-personal experience of cultural practices and dissemination of latest methods in fish farming.DDC further said that there is a huge scope of fish farming in the state but the need of the hour is to provide guidance and latest techniques to interested farmers and for this proper guidance and awareness to the fishing farmers is a must . DDC also said that boosting of fish farming will improve socio-economic conditions of the farmers besides creating employment opportunities for the unemployed educated youth. On the occasion, DDC also urged the farmers to come forward and take advantage of the welfare schemes launched by the state and centre.The Assistant Director (AD) Fisheries, said that the farmers will be imparted know-how for better management regarding feeding, cleanliness and better growth of fish under latest technology.He also said such tours will help the Fish farmers to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices and asked them to make the best use of the training programme. He said that this exposure visit will add to their knowledge regarding fish farming and such type of exposure tours will be conducted in future also.
