Reacting to Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat's remark that the AIUDF has been growing faster than the BJP in Assam, the Congress party said the government and the BJP are trying to divert attention from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.Rawat triggered a major row with his remark that the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has been growing faster than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam allegedly on the support of the Muslim population as Pakistan and China push Bangladeshi migrants into the northeast to destabilise India."I would not like to comment on this. But, I would simply say that in the coming days, you will get to hear many outrageous things. The BJP will point fingers at many leaders, many parties in order to divert the attention away from Punjab National Bank fraud case.

"So, the BJP ministers and spokespersons will move heaven and earth to divert the attention of people. For a change, I would like to congratulate the electronic media that they have kept the focus constant on the issue and this has attracted the attention of the entire nation," said senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.In the present BJP government, why every "fraud-wala" was going to London and not coming back and why all of them had some nexus with the top leadership of the present government - directly or indirectly, he asked."For diverting the attention, they will do anything because now PNB fraud has caught the attention of the entire nation. Entire nation has started questioning the present government, the failure of the government."They have not been able to stop the scam, they have not been able to get any person back to the country. Now to divert the attention of the media - both at the national level and regional level - they would keep trying different things," he added.
