The Patwaris across the Ganderbal district on Thursday staged on 2nd day of strike to press for resolution of their long pending demands. They are demanding salary revision and transparent promotion policy, besides redressal of various other issues.District President of the Association Mehraj-u-din said that all members of the Association will support the four days pen down strike call by the All J&K Patwar Association and remain on strike. Mehraj demanded that the government should address the issues being faced by the Patwaris across the state. Malik Showkat executive member of the association said that Patwari is the only official who has no office to sit in or no government locker to keep official records.“Teacher in the Education Department and an Accounts Assistant in the finance department having graduation as the basic qualification at the time of appointment is placed in the pay band of 5200-20200 + G.P 2800 while as a Patwari having graduation as basic qualification at the time of appointment is placed in the pay band of 5200-20200 + G.P 2400 which is clear injustice" Malik added.Meanwhile, Due to the strike, the revenue- allied work remained affected in all Tehsils across the district.
