Dr Jitendra Singh lays foundation for upgradation of Ghordi road under CRF

Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region and PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today laid foundation stone for upgradation of 14-kilometer-long double lane Ghordi road and 9.4-kilometer BasantGarh to Khaned, to be completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 46.06 crore under Central Road Fund (CRF) and PMGSY.Minister of State for Transport and Public works, Sunil Sharma besides Member Legislative Assembly Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rayees Bhat, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramnagar Farrukh Qazi besides district and tehsil Officers of various departments including prominent citizen were present on the occasion.Addressing the gathering at Ghordi after laying the foundation stone, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Udhampur-Ghordi road is a major road connectivity in the district, connecting a vast area of tehsil Ramnagar to district head quarter. He said that the Ghordi double lane will also serve as a circular road from tehsil headquarter Ramnagar to Udhampur connecting DalsarChowki, Ghordi, Barmeen, Kaldi and its adjoining areas. “With this upgradation work various development activities in the area would get a further boost”, he added.

The Union Minister informed that state government has submitted Detailed Project Report of Rs 52 crore to Central Government for widening and upgradation of phase second.Dr. Jitendra said that the center is committed to provide better road connectivity to people of far-off areas of the State, adding that there is no constraint of funds under PMGSY sector. He said central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing liberal funding under that development sectors to state government so that improved basic services are ensured in every nook and corner of the State.He asked the executing agencies to gear up their men and machinery for timely completion of the ongoing development projects.Sunil Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said road connectivity is imperative for development of all other sectors including tourism, adding that in this connection government is committed to connect every area of the State with nearest headquarter under several schemes like PMGSY. He added that many development works and schemes for overall development of the constituency are in pipeline which would cater to all basic requirements of the public. He exhorted upon the engineers not to compromise with quality of work.Later, Dina Nath Bhagat put forth various demands and problems being faced by the general public of the area regarding paucity of drinking water, electricity, lack of staff in government schools, dilapidated condition of several links roads etc.The Union Minister assured that all these issues would be taken up with the concerned agencies for an early redressal.
