GCET hosts 5th National Conference on Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology

Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Minister of state for Education and culture, Priya Sethi today held marathon interaction with the Engineering students drawn from state and outside state Engineering colleges here at the 5th National Conference & Exhibition on Engineering and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology(NCEEITET) hosted jointly by the Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and Indian Institute of Technology(ITI) Kharagpur.Altaf Bukhari was chief Guest, while Priya Sethi was guest of honour at the inaugural session of the two-day conference, which was also attended by delegates of public sector and private agencies, associated with technological development and Energy generation and other fields of engineering, besides representatives of Industrial Sector. At the outset, Senior faculty IIT Kharagpur Prof SS Phatak, ATM Power Grid Corporation of India Shafat Ahmed and EESL   representative Manu Mudgul threw detailed light on the rising need of innovation in different streams of Engineering and scope for young Engineers to use their innovations.Earlier in his inaugural address, Altaf Bukhari highlighted the importance of grooming of J&K youth in modern fields to compensate the loss incurred by the state over 25 years of turmoil. There is imminent need for putting in extraordinary efforts to promote the young and fertile minds to enable the state to keep pace with the technological advance, he said adding that the state needs improvement on every front and the onus lies on the new generation.   

“Education sector has borne the maximum burnt of the turmoil and only education advancement can bring out the state from the prevailing morass” he said.In her address, Priya Sethi urged the budding engineers to use their abilities to improve the life of common man.“As per a study the country has 1.5 billion young technocrats who are putting in their abilities to enable the country to achieve new heights in technology. I think their efforts should be directed towards improving the day to day living of the masses” she said and listed the steps being taken by the state and centre government towards skill advancement of youth.Meanwhile, the Students of GCET, Engineering Colleges of Baba Ghulam Shah Badsha University, Shri Mata Vaishnoo Devi University and various private Engineering colleges had put up their innovative scientific models at the exhibition. The Ministers held detailed interaction with the students to know about their models and innovative ideas.Member Legislative Assembly Tangmarg Kashmir, Abas Wani, Director School Education Jammu, Ravinder Singh, Nodal Principal GGM Science College, Satinder Singh were also present on the occasion.The Power Grid Corporation of India, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation, Defence Science and Technology Organization, Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency(JKEDA), National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) and some private companies had put up their stalls to intimate the budding engineers about their field and its requirements in terms of innovation.Senior faculty IIT Kharagpur Prof SS Phatak, ATM Power Grid Shafat Ahmed and EES   representative Manu Mudgul threw detailed light on the rising need of innovation in different streams of Engineering and scope for young Engineers to use their innovations.
