Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday urged citizens to grow gardens and plant trees to fight air pollution in the national capital.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking after the inauguration of the 31st Garden Tourism Festival here, which is organised in the city during every spring season.The three-day festival with the theme "Grow Garden: Save Delhi", is being organised at The Garden of Five Senses in Saket of south Delhi. Inaugurating the festival, Sisodia said the practice of gardening and planting trees plays a vital role in enhancing the relationship of humans with nature.He said that gardening is a simple activity which endows greater levels of satisfaction and it would be beneficial for the society as a whole.Sisodia said that everybody is concerned about fighting pollution and cleansing the air, but it can only be ensured through planting trees and growing gardens.As part of the festival, competitions would be organized in 30 categories, including potted plants, cactus, aromatic/herbal and medicinal plants, bonsai plants, vegetable flower decoration and flower arrangements among others.The festival would remain open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Delhi Tourism is providing free shuttle service to the public from Saket Metro Station to the venue and back.
