Directorate of Libraries and Research J&K today organized a workshop in collaboration with Raja Ram Mohan Roy Foundation (RRLF) at Rani Talab, Digiana.The programme was a part of ‘BetiBachoo, BetiPadao” mission and was organized to aware the school going girls about the cleanliness, health and hygiene.  Around 150 girl students from three government schools including High School Digiana, Middle School Digiana Cantt and Middle School Markhari, along with their principles and teachers attended the programme.Speaking on the occasion, Director, Libraries and Research Mukhtar-ul-Aziz stressed upon the students to inculcate the habit of reading good books. He also discussed the role of Libraries in shaping the lives of the students and gave an insight of the initiatives and efforts taken by the Department of libraries and Research in promoting reading and learning among students.

On this occasion guest speaker Dr Khazana made the girls aware of maintaining cleanliness, health and personal hygiene. She discussed the significance and importance of improving health and hygiene practices among girl students and suggested the ways by which they can maintain their personal hygiene.Another speaker Dr Deep Naval while stressing on the importance of inculcating reading habits among students, said that there is no substitute for reading good books in augmenting the knowledge of students. She motivated the students to inculcate reading habits at younger age to excel in their lives. Several school girls also participated in the event and expressed their views on the importance of hygiene and cleanliness in our day to day life. One of the participants also recited a song on the importance of girl child.The programme ended with vote of thanks presented by Smt. RenuKumari, KAS, Dy Director Libraries, Jammu. Officers and officials of Department of libraries and Research were also present on the occasion.
