UP, J&K, Jharkhand fastest improving states in health indicators : NITI Aayog

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat has expressed satisfaction on the performance of the State health department in improving its slot in the health indicators in the country as per the report of NITI Aayog .He has complimented the officers and officials of the Department on this significant achievement and called for maintaining the tempo.As per the Report issued by the NITI Aayog, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh have emerged as the top-three large states in the country in terms of annual incremental performance on health indicators.These states showed the maximum gains in improvement of health outcomes from base to reference year in indicators such as neonatal mortality rate, under-five mortality rate, full immunization coverage, institutional deliveries, and People Living with HIV (PLHIV) on anti-retroviral therapy," the "Healthy States, Progressive India, report said.According to NITI Aayog it is a weighted composite index based on indicators in three domains: health outcomes (70 per cent weightage), governance and information (12 per cent), and key inputs and processes (18 per cent). Also this index would be linked to incentives under the National Health Mission, which underlines the importance of such an exercise.
