Jordan’s Mo’atah Club has continued its winning-streak towards a place on the podium after reaching the semi-finals through a 3-2 win against a defiant Bahrain Club at the Arab Women Sports Tournament 2018 (AWST).The fixture was a game of catch-up from the start for Bahrain as the Jordanians went ahead in the first match and Bahrain chased back to level in the second. The Mo’atah Club again moved forward in the third match and Bahrain again caught up in the fourth. And in a classic climax, the final game eventually went to the Jordanians, but only after a tie-break which finished 14-12 which left Mo’atah delighted and Bahrain despondent; an outstanding match that summed up the level of competition and skill at the fourth edition of AWST.With the AWST theme ‘The World is Your Court… Together Victorious’, Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Green Club were always going to be victorious however together they were as their opponents, Djibouti University Club, failed to show up for the match.Sadly for Sharjah Sports Club for women, it looks as though their bid for the title is over having been beaten by 3-0 by Kuwait’s Al Fatat Club, although the games were much closer than the scoreline would suggest.Being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, AWST runs until 12 February.
