District Development Commissioner Bandipora Sajad Hussain today flagged-off a group of progressive fish farmers on a day- long inter-state exposure-cum-training tour under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.The group will visit different fish farms of the state including National Fish Seed Farm (NFSF) Manasbal, Trout hachery Mamar Ganderbal, Fish Farm Pandach etc, to learn the ways and means adopted for better fish production.The DDC on the occasion interacted with farmers and said that the district is bestowed with natural resources and there is a tremendous scope of fish farming which can help in addressing unemployment to some extent.The Assistant Director (AD) Fisheries, said that the farmers will be imparted know-how for better management regarding feeding, cleanliness and better growth of fish under latest technology. He said that so far 60 units both in trout culture and carp culture have been constructed in the district and the farmers are fetching good returns.
