Governor N.N. Vohra inaugurated the “66th B.N. Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship-2017” here today. This Championship, being hosted by the J&K Police has attracted 37 teams from all over India which comprise nearly 1000 football players who will participate in this 11 day tournament. Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Minister for Horticulture, Sh. Nazir Ahmad Laway, Member of Parliament and a large number of serving and retired Police officers and other invitees were present on the occasion.Welcoming the participating teams on this happy occasion, Governor observed that besides working long hours to maintain law and order our policemen are also doing extremely well in various games and sports. He lauded the J&K Police for their devotion to duty and for their achievements in various sports competitions in the country.

Governor suggested to Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP J&K, to invite school boys and girls to witness the final rounds of matches in this Championship so that they can both enjoy watching well contested matches and also be inspired to participate in sports. He called upon the youth to take an active part in sports besides attending to their studies.On his arrival, Governor was introduced to the Jury of Appeal, Organizing Committee and Managers of the 37 participating teams which took part in the March Past.The Welcome Speech was given by Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP, J&K and the Vote of Thanks was given by Sh. A.K. Choudhary, ADGP Armed.
