Chander Parkash Ganga launches Pulse Polio Immunization programme in Samba

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today launched  the Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) programme by administering vaccines to children at Community Health Centre Vijaypur  here.On the occasion, the Minister was informed that more than 48 thousand children of less than five years across the district will be given polio drops .He was also informed that the officers and staff of the health department, volunteers, NGOs and Rotary Associations are participating to administer the vaccine in 330 camps in the district. Special camps will also be held at bus stands, railway stations and mobile units will administer the vaccine to children whose parents are working at brick kiln units and other units.

Interacting with the Doctors, the Minister asserted that we need to remain vigilant and maintain the population’s immunity and sensitive surveillance till global polio eradication is achieved  as polio virus is still circulating in other parts of the world and may re-infect us.The Minister further stated that the government is making all the possible efforts to protect children from many other diseases. “It is important that all vaccination  programmes are carried out with utmost  dedication to achieve the targets .Among others, Chief Medical Officer Samba Rajinder Samyal, Block Medical Officer Dr. Lakhvinder Singh, Medical Officer Dr. Soami, Community Health Officer Parvinderjeet Kour and other officers from the concerned departments were present on the occasion.
