To mark the 25th anniversary of National Commission for Women, J&K State Commission for Women in collaboration with MHAC School on Wednesday celebrated the National Girl Child Day. Chairperson J&K State Commission for Women Nayeema Ahmad Mahjoor was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Chairman LMC, MHAC H R Gandhar was the guest of honour.Nayeema Mahjoor, while speaking on the occasion, threw light on the importance of this day and the need of empowering the girl child by ensuring her equal opportunities of growth and development.  She said that there are several issues related to girl child including feticide, discrimination, education, nutrition and honour which require deep deliberations so that remedial measures could be worked out and thus implemented.Earlier Chief Guest and Principal flagged off a rally of students who carried placards with meaningful messages. The students also raised slogans on National Girl Child Day.Four Kadamb trees were also planted by the chief guest and other dignitaries to enrich Kadamb Vatika of the school.Women who have excelled in various fields were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Sunaina Mehta, Secretary JMC Jammu, Swati Gupta, Judicial Magistrate, Sub Registrar Jammu, Pooja Raina, Judicial Magistrate, Munsiff, Akhnoor, Ex Nagbanians were  presented mementoes.Manager, LMC T K Ganjoo and Principal Sween Puri besides others were present on the occasion.
