Forest, Transport, Youth Services and Sports Minister Govind Singh Thakur said here today that all out efforts would be made to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the State so that youth of the state could excel in all spheres of life, especially sports activities.He said that in order to strengthen the department, the State Youth Board would be reconstituted soon. He said that the State Youth Policy, which was formed in the year 2002 has not so for been revised till date which would be revised in consultation with the various stakeholders such as Mahila Mandal, Yuvak Mandal, Gram Panchayat and entrepreneurs.Govind Singh Thakur said that the State Sports Council which play an important role in strengthening the sports activities would also be reconstituted soon. He said that efforts would be made to reward all meritorious sportspersons who have excelled in various sports.The Minister said Himachal Pradesh Sports Council grant in aid rules, which were revised in the year 1983 were not revised till date due to lukewarm response of the previous Government. These would be revised at the earliest so that new dimension could be given to the department. He said that efforts would be made to revise the guidelines and schemes for the welfare of the sportspersons in order to ensure their welfare.
