Known for Academic Excellence & Quality Placements, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri girls proved that this college is Number one in sports also. The girls won Inter College Volley Ball Tournament organized by IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The university was to select four teams for the semifinal competition. For this the teams capturing first three positions last year, directly qualified for semifinals while the fourth team was selected on the basis of a knockout match between GNE Ludhiana & STC Pathankot, both new entrants in this tournament. The knock out match was won by GNE Ludhiana. As such, the teams which qualified for semifinal match included CGC Jhanjeri, CGC Landran, GNE Ludhiana & BCET, Gurdaspur. Each of the four semifinalist teams was to play league matches against all the other three teams.CGC Jhanjeri played their first match against CGC Landran and won it by 3-2 sets (25-21,24-25,25-19,26-27,15-3). Second match was played by Jhanjeri team with GNE Ludhiana and they beat them by 3-0 sets (25-10,25-10,25-11). Final Round was played between CGC Jhanjeri and BCET Gurdaspur Team. CGC Jhanjeri girls won this match also by 3-0 sets (25-21,25- 16,25-14). As such Ms. Simranjeet Kaur, Captain of CGC Jhanjeri’s winning team, was honoured with the glittering trophy while the second & third positions went to CGC Landran & BCET, Gurdaspur respectively. The other team members of CGC Jhanjeri included Resu Jha, Shivani Chauhan, Sandeep Kaur, Shivani, Monika Shastri, Arushi and Megha. The captain along with all other team members were awarded gold medals.
