Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary informed the House that sixteen water supply schemes are fully functional in Sonawari and catering to the daily water needs of the area.“Of 125 habitations of Sonawari, sixty are getting normal water supply while 65 others get 10 to 30 litre supply per capita per day” the Minister said.Replying to a question of Yasir Reshi, the Minister informed that 16 water supply schemes are fully functional in the area while as two are partially functional.He further informed that supply to the 47 partially covered habitations will be augmented under the ongoing water supply schemes and deficit in 18 habitations would be met under new schemes.
Giving details, the Minister informed that the water supply to village Trigam would be augmented through WSS Malikpora Trigam taken up under National Rural Drinking Water Programme at estimated cost of Rs.2.92 crore, while village Kanyari has been included under the scope of WSS Pethpora Gung Jehangeer to be completed at the cost of Rs 4.92 crore, he added.
He further informed that to augment water supply in Shah Gund and its adjacent areas, a WSS, involving a cost of Rs 7.49 crore, is coming up at Shukardin Shahgund, while the department has formulated a DPR for Rs. 2.17 crore WSS to augment water supply in Mukdamyari-Bakshibal, while He said that DPR with source as river Jehlum at Shadhipora is being prepared to overcome the shortage of drinking water at Ganasthan.Replying to a supplementary question, the Minister informed that the government would first complete the work on ongoing water supply schemes and then take up new schemes in Sonawari. A meeting shall also be convened in Sonawari to resolve the grievances of the people in the area, he added.Mohammad Muzaffar Parray and Ramesh Arora also raised supplementary questions related to the main question.
