The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday lambasted chief minister Capt. Amaninder Singh for stooping to lowest level of cheating Punjabis for saving his corrupt minister by not accepting resignation of Rana Gurjeet. In a press release, the president of Aam Aadmi Party Bhagwant Mann, co-president Aman Arora, MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwa, Deputy Lop Sarabjit Kaur Manukr, MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur, MLA Jagtar Singh Hissowal, MLA Kulwant Singh Pandauri and others stated that the pressure of public and AAP’s commitment to root out corruption resulted in resignation of minister Rana Gurjit.Mann asked Capt. Amarinder Singh that he should clarify what is stopping him to accept resignation of Rana Gurjit. “The chief minister must tell the people of state what is the reason behind saving skin of the corrupt and tainted minister who himself has accepted his fault by submitting his resignation.” Mann said. He said that not only mining scam but Rana Gurjit is involved in multiple scams looting state exchequer. AAP president said that Congress party and Capt. Amarinder Singh in particular has cheated the people of state on his promise of zero tolerance against corruption by allowing his corrupt minister to rob the hard earned money of tax payers. He said that the resignation must have come on the same day when AAP had raise the issue of minister illegally taking sand mines on the name of his chef.
Arora said that the minister apart from acquiring sand mines has illegally grabbed panchayti land at village Seonk near Mullanpur and also committed banking fraud on the basis of that land. He said that hesitating in taking action against minister, the govt.’s action of shielding the corrupt minister shows that there are vested interests of other people in the scam as well.
Aman Arora said that the centre govt. must also take notice of illegal money transaction cases involving Rana Gurjit and his family as per the law of the land. He said that that a criminal case must be registered against him immediately. He said that apart from the govt. to take action against Rana Gurjit, it is the luminous test for Congress president Rahul Gandhi if he comes out as a leader who can call spade a spade.
