Various measures underway to promote religious tourism in JK : Priya Sethi

Minister of State for Tourism Ms Priya Sethi, while replying to a question of Girdhari Lal Raina, informed the house that   government is spending Rs 5 crore annually under Capex Budget to create facilities at various pilgrim shrines of the state. She said around 176 pilgrim sites and shrines are being developed by creating various facilities for visitors under the pilgrim tourism.  “Under the pilgrim tourism, the government is providing basic facilities like PCs, Wazu Khanas, Dormitories and illumination at the shrines and temples”, she added.Giving specific information about Shadipora, she said the government has constructed 10 washrooms and 8 public convenience blocks at the historical site.  Meanwhile, she informed that as part of Union Ministry of Tourism’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme aimed at to develop theme based circuits, around 15 thematic circuits have been identified in the state for which preparation of DPRs is in progress. She assured that the state Government would pursue Union Ministry of Tourism to incorporate Shiva circuit inthematic circuit of Swadesh Darshan Scheme.   Surinder Mohan Ambardar, S.
