With a lot of exuberance and fanfare Lohri celebration was organized today at CGC, Jhanjeri campus. The bonfire, symbolizing the burial of the old beliefs, and the rebirth of spring, was lit by Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC. Around 100 staff members along with aprox. 500 students of MBA, B.Tech, BBA, BCA & B.Ed participated in this festival. On the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that we hope Lohri would bring happiness in the lives of the students and faculty members. President Dhaliwal also expressed his concern over the declining sex ratio. He emphasized that the girl child should be equally welcomed into the family. Everybody should celebrate Lohri for both newly born girl and boy, Dhaliwal added. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. “Boliyaan” was the most enjoyed part of the occasion.  A garland of cultural extravaganza comprising traditional songs and dance was presented by the students. Students, dressed in traditional attire, sang songs of Lohri such as "Sunder Mundriye", "Hukka bhai hukka" and many others. Enthralling bhangra performance was given by the students which was followed by the lively performance of folk songs and giddha. The students enjoyed groundnuts and jaggery sweets in the warmth of the bonfire. The whole function was a scintillating bonanza of modern and traditional culture and heritage. Dr. G.D. Bansal, Director General CGC ,  blessed the students at this occasion.
