Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today inaugurated Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at village Lovely in Samba Constituency. The WSS has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.37 crore.MLA, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal was also present on the occasion.Complementing the people after inaugurating the Schemes, the Minister said that it was the long pending demand of the locals which has been fulfilled. He said that over 2000 souls of Lovely and Anandpur villages get benefitted with the schemes. Addressing the well attended public gatherings at Village Lovely and Khara Madana of Samba Constituency, the Minister reiterated the commitment of government for provision of basic amenities to people living in kandi and hilly areas of the state. He said that the government is aware about the problems being confronted to people of these areas, saying that various initiatives have been taken to addressed their problems on priority.The Minister said that ongoing schemes of the area would be completed on priority and to be dedicated to people for their convenience. The other schemes of public importance would also be taken up with the consultation of local representative, he maintained.
Responding to the demands of locals at Khara Madana, the Minister announced that a deep tube well and hand pumps would be installed in the area to meet the requirement of water supply of locals. The concrete crates along nallah at Khara Madana and along Devak at Utterbehni would also be erected to save the agriculture land and temples from flood, he added.Sham Choudhary directed the concerned for taking up repair work on defunct Water Supply Schemes and change of worn-out pipe lines so that regular water supply is ensured in the area.Seeking peoples’ cooperation in conservation of water resources, the Minister also called for judicious use of water. He said that the department has launched a campaign to sensitize people about the importance of judicious use of water in life. He asked the PHE employees to deliver their service with dedication, saying that government has taken up several initiatives for their welfare.Dr Manyal said that a new era of development has been started in the Constituency during the present regime. He said that work on hospital building with estimated cost of Rs. 55 lakh, Sumbli road with estimated cost Rs. 2.74 crore and Mandal – Utterbehni road would be taken up soon. He said that Rs. 12 crore has also been sanctioned under Central Road Fund (CRF) for construction of bridge over Devak to connect Utterbehni with village Lovely.Among others, Ex-MLC Master Noor Hussain, Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Jammu, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur, besides large number of locals were present on the occasion.
