Minister for Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (FCA&PD), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that there is no shortage of essential commodities as of now anywhere in the state.While inspecting Government Food Store at Udhampur, the Minister said that there is an adequate stock of essential commodities available in all the areas of the state and is being disbursed among the people. He said that they have directed officers to ensure timely disbursal of food grains and to ensure proper monitoring so that there is no pilferage.The minister said besides the food grains, there is adequate stock of the LPG and petrol in both the divisions and the distribution is being reviewed frequently.He said the FCA&PD staff has been asked to ensure that people do not face any shortage of essential commodities and there should be no complaint of over-charging. He said it should be ensured that every beneficiary coming under National Food Security Act (NFSA) or Mufti Mohammad Syed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) should receive allotted quota of food-grains on time.

The minister said that the government is fully committed for the protection and promotion of economic and social well-being of the citizens and requisite steps are being taken to ensure hassle free supply of quality ration to the people.The Minister, along with a high-level team of officers of the department, inspected ration depot Udhampur in order to check the stock position and quality of the food grains available in the depot.During the inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction over the quality of the food items available for the public. However, the Minister directed the officers that quality of the food items should be maintained.The Minister directed the CAPD officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report of the expansion of Food Store Udhampur.On the occasion, the minister met with locals, who raised number of demands. The Minister assured the locals that their genuine demands would be resolved on priority bases.
