DDC Baramulla reviews implementation of PC & PNDT Act

A meeting of the District Advisory Committee for Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Sex Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act (PC&PNDT Act) was today held at Baramulla, under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash.As many as 14 registration cases of Ultra Sonography (USG) clinics, including 4 fresh cases and 9 renewal cases were taken up during the meeting. Various cases were also cleared for registration. Moreover, all necessary rules and guidelines under PC & PNDT Act were taken into consideration.The DDC impressed upon the Chief Medical Officer to keep a strict vigil on the functioning of the USG clinics in the district. It was said that that strict action under Law will be initiated against Clinics which don’t follow all the provisions and rules of PC & PNDT Act.Joint Director Planning A.G Malik, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendents, Block Medical Officers and Medical experts attended the review meeting.
