Assailing BJP for its stubborn and arrogant stance in the Parliament, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and LokSabha member of Gurdaspur Sunil Jakhar said that half of the session was ruined due to this attitude of the BJP government in center. In a statement issued here today, Mr. Jakhar said that the Central Government deliberately called the winter session late so that the opposition could not disclose the failures of the government before the Gujarat polls. He bemoaned that even when the session was convened, Government is doing nothing to ensure smooth functioning of parliament. Mr. Jakhar said that when Prime Minister Mr. NarendraModi has no evidence to comment on the former Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh, he should accept his mistake in Parliament on moral grounds so that the proceedings of parliament could be resumed.

Mr. Jakhar said that the Prime Minister had announced so many times about doubling the income of the farmers till 2022 but during the administration of the BJP in center, till now the condition of the farmers in the country has worsened. Farmers are neither getting handsome crop prices nor have their income increased. But actually the income of the farmers has decreased even further than before. He said that such issues can be considered if the government runs the house. But the government does not want to discuss the problems of the country in parliament to solve out these because if these issues are discussed then opposition will sought achievement from Union government and the government knows that it has nothing to tell in house.

Mr. Jakhar said that not only is the sector of agriculture, the center government has failed in every field. Quoting a latest report of the CAG, he said that there are no proper rules regarding the purity of food products in the country and the central government is not doing anything about it. He said that according to the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006, the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) which is working under the Ministry of Health, has not made necessary rules and regulations regarding the safety standards of food products and the process of issuance of the license is also inaccurate as the CAG was investigated that almost half of the licenses were issued without following proper rules and regulations. In its report, the CAG has expressed concern that in such a scenario there is a complete possibility that there are unsafe foods products that are not sustainable in the country are being manufactured and are being sold in the country. Mr. Jakhar said that such issues are directly related to the health of the millions of people of the country and should be considered immediately in parliament, but due to the negative attitude of the central government the Parliament has been stopped its working and issues of masses are not being considered. He asked the Prime Minister to immediately apologize for his speech so that Parliament could initiate proceedings and there would be some meaningful debate in house.
