Hundreds of Congress workers in Delhi staged a demonstration against the BJP outside Parliament on Friday, demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for "spreading lies" against the previous UPA government. The protest comes a day after the acquittal of all the accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case."Yesterday (Thursday) the court verdict on 2G scam case has proved that the way in which the BJP and others accused the UPA government... (it) has exposed all," Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken told reporters. He said the court in its verdict said that the "entire case was based on gossips and rumours". "The CAG claimed that the scam was worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore, while the CBI in court said that the scam was worth Rs 30,000 crore, and then another official said that the scam was worth Rs 3,000 crore," he said.

The former Union Minister also said that it was a Supreme Court-monitored probe, and a detailed report on the status of the case was sent on timely basis."Even the public prosecutor was appointed by the Supreme Court. "Today we want to say that Modi, BJP and Kejriwal should apologise to the nation," Maken said, adding the party will keep on agitating till the time they don't apologise.

On Thursday, a Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court acquitted all the accused, including former Telecom Minister A. Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi, in the alleged multi-crore 2G spectrum case. Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party, Maken said: "The first-come first-serve policy was brought by the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) and 22 licenses were allotted then. "If someone spoke against the first-come first-serve policy, it was (former Prime Minister) Mamohan Singh, who had suggested that this policy should go and the auction system should start. "But the idea of auctioning was opposed by Nripendra Mishra, who was then TRAI Chairman. He is the Principal Secretary to Modi today," he said.Maken also slammed social activist Anna Hazare and others for protesting against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government that time. "They all protested against the UPA government, and now seeing their protest one can only say that 'chor machaye shor' (the real wrongdoers created a furore)," Maken added.
