Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today welcomed the categorical assurance given by Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javedkar to SAD MP Shri Naresh Gujaral in the Rajya Sabha today that the name of Dyal Singh College in New Delhi will not be changed. In a statement here, the SAD president said it was appreciable that while clearing the government's stand on the issue, the HRD minister had asserted that the decision to change the name of the Dyal Singh College to Vande Mataram Mahavidyalaya was not taken by the central government. "This vindicates the stand taken by us that the NDA government never had any role in this proposal. It is also laud-worthy that the HRD minister has even snubbed the governing council of the Dyal Singh College which was behind this name change proposal by stating that creating unnecessary controversies by playing with emotions is wrong", he added.
