Minister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism, Priya Sethi today emphasized on promoting literature as a means for creating cultural and linguistic pride among people of the region.The Minister was speaking during the release of book “Astha ki Arthvyavastha" penned down by Yogita Yadav at an event organized by Duggar Manch Jammu at KL Sehgal Hall here today.The Minister called for collective efforts to preserve and restore the linguistic and cultural heritage so that it can be carried forward to the next generation. The author has done her part by documenting the knowledge of our rich spiritual culture, she added.Literature unites the culture and faith imbibes it in our lives, the Minister stated this while appreciating the author for bringing together spirituality and culture of Jammu region and documenting it for future generations.The Minister said that the book will contribute towards understanding the socio-cultural aspects of the region adding that through this book, the reader can explore the uniqueness of culture and identity of Jammu. “Jammu region has a great potential for religious tourism and the book will spread a positive message by showcasing the true colors of the region that are secularism, spirituality and rich culture” she added.

Priya maintained that learning about the culture will prove to be an indispensable tool for inheriting the ancestral knowledge and must be taught in educational institutions as well as at homes. “Our culture is the most powerful tool for preserving tangible and intangible wealth of heritage”, the Minister affirmed.Highlighting various initiatives, the Minister said that the government is making resolute efforts in bringing Jammu on the map of prime tourist destinations and several projects are being launched in this regard.Chairperson, School Education Board Dr Veena Pandita, Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Amrinder Singh Aman, President Duggar Manch Mohan Singh Salathia were present  on the occassion.Dr Purshotam read a paper on book whereas stage was conducted by Dr Sunita Bhadwal and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Sushma Rani.A large number of writers and critics also graced the occasion. Duggar Manch hailed the Minister for her efforts in preserving and promoting the dogri language.
