District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Saturday chaired a meeting to discuss the 24 crore-rupees project sanctioned under the GoI-sponsored AMRUT scheme for augmentation of sewerage system around the Dal Lake.The project comprises design, construction, testing and commissioning of a sewerage system that provides a sewerage network, with manholes, house connections and pumping stations, for the peripheral areas of the Dal Lake.The areas falling under the project include Saida Kadal, Mum Khan, Naidyar, Gurpora, Jogilankar, Chowdry Bagh, Doulatabad, Abi Nowpora and Buchwara.The DDC called on the UEED to launch a general awareness programme about the advantages of the project for the public before starting work on it on the ground. SE UEED was also asked to submit a detailed plan detailing road cuts, traffic diversion, replacement of electric poles and water connections, in order that alternate arrangements for the purpose could be made well in time for the project on the ground. Dr. Shah also sought cooperation from general masses in the execution and implementation of this prestigious project on the ground.
