Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Altaf Hassan Mirza today held an interactive session with the stakeholders to discuss the preparation for replacement of existing Treasury system with modern Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) mechanism in the state.The meeting was attended by Director Accounts and Treasury K K Gupta, CAO Jammu Riyaz Ahmad, Heads of various departments, Chief Engineers, besides representative of Chamber of Commerce, Jammu, Traders Association, Contractors and other concerned.The DG apprised the participants about the benefits of the new system and the ways it will streamline the whole process of government payments. He said the new system besides being user-friendly will root out corruption and will make it easier to see real-time progress of all developmental projects and payments thereof.He said that as Ministry of Finance is proposing to bring radical reforms in the payment system of the state by switching over to PAO system, the Ministry had desired to take all the stakeholders on board before the new system is rolled out in the state.The DG Accounts and Treasuries also presented a detailed presentation and answered various queries and observations of the participants about the proposed system.Giving details of proposed PAO system, Riyaz Hussain CAO Jammu said that PAO is a client oriented, integrated application that aims at achieving operational efficiency across streams of public financial management system. He said that after implementation of program, all amounts will get directly credited to beneficiary account and will bring easy mode of transaction which will nurture transparent and a quick delivery system and would establish and maintain a technically sound management in accounting system of the state.
