CAPD Employees Association Kashmir led by president Aijaz Khan today took out a protest march from Shaheed Gunj upto Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s office where they presented a memorandum, listing long pending demands of the Food employees. As already announced earlier, a protest rally of central and district members of CAPD Employees Association led by Aijaz Khan was taken out from Shaheed Gunj during which protesting employees shouted slogans in the favour of their long pending demands. The protesters marched upto the office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan.According to GNS, the CAPD Employees Association led by Ajaz Khan was scheduled to present a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner but he had gone to Qazigund. Khan told GNS that later they submitted the memorandum to his deputy in which all of their demands were listed. He said that till their demands are not met, they would continue their protests and have decided to hold fortnightly-district-wise protests onwards. “First, we will protest at Anantnag district,” he said.Aijaz Khan said that earlier, a committee was formed by Government to resolve genuine demands in which CAPD Employees Association was made representative but six months have passed, Government is not solving our issues.

He said that the Government is not resolving the issue of fair price shop owners, store keepers and other employees of the Department.“Our labourers have been rendered jobless due to closure of godowns. Their issues are pending.  On the one hand, Government says there is no need to come on roads as it will resolve pending issues but on the other, the situation is this,” Khan said. He said no departmental promotion is taking place from last several years due to which the employees suffer a lot.“We demand allotting of grade Rs 4000- 6000 in favour of the departmental storekeepers, regularization of all the labourers working in central go-downs for many years, release of loading-unloading charges which are pending with the department since years as also commission due to the FP shop owners across the valley,” he said.“We also demand same treatment as prevalent in FCI with regard to the wastage of essential commodities. The government should fix monthly wages in favour of departmental labourers (Hamals) working at sale depos besides must directly induct football players of the department as storekeepers not as labourers as they are treated presently,” Khan said and also demanded regularization of footballers of CAPD Football team.“We have listed all our demands in the memorandum. We will continue our struggle and won’t sit silent. We appeal government to resolve our issues or protests shall continue,” the CAPD Employees Association president added. (GNS)
