North Kashmir Range level sports festival concludes in Baramulla

A month-long North Kashmir Range level sports festival concluded today at Showket Ali Stadium Baramulla with Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, V K Birdhi as the chief guest.SSPs of Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara, officers from police and civil administration and a huge gathering of students were present on the occasion.Pertinently, the festival was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police which witnessed the overwhelming response from the young and aspiring players from the three north Kashmir districts. A series of events including cricket, volleyball, football, kho-kho, kabbadi, washu, kick boxing, race and various other events under different categories were held during the period.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG hailed the participants and said that such events provide platform for youth and the need of the hour is to organize such events with more frequency. He said that such events bridge the gap between people and police and sought public support in developing sports activities in the area.He also said that these types of events help youth in keeping a distance from ll and hazardous practices besides maintaining their physical fitness.SSP Baramulla, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, in his welcome address expressed gratitude to various civil departments and councils in making the festival a success and said that various initiatives have been taken by the police department in channelizing the potential of youth towards positive activities.Later, prizes were distributed among various players who excelled in different events organized during the period.
